Arizona Council for History Education
The Arizona Council for History Education will hold its annual conference on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Phoenix Zoo. The theme for the conference is: Taking a Stand. We encourage proposals focused on individuals or groups that have taken a stand in history, although proposals that do not directly relate to the theme may be accepted.
Through the theme, this year’s conference will focus on those who have taken a firm position on an issue and have had a significant impact on history. The theme will foster deeper understandings of historic events, making history relevant to students. With the timing of the conference right before the start of school, we encourage presentations that will equip teachers with essential secondary sources, quality primary sources, engaging classroom activities, and “shovel-ready” projects. Sessions will include U.S., world, and Arizona history, and innovative ways to teach and share history.
Join ACHE for breakfast and coffee, a delicious lunch, and a dessert reception following the final sessions!
Door prizes awarded: history books, restaurant gift certificates, classroom resources, museum passes and more!
